He was charged with six counts of first-degree intentional homicide and pleaded not guilty to all of them.

Brooks was out on $1,000 cash bail at the time of the parade for charges filed in Milwaukee County earlier in November. Brooks has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1999.

Darrell Brooks began cross-examining some of the victims prosecutors say he rammed and ran over with his SUV as he drove through the crowd last November in Waukesha, Wisconsin on October 10, 2022

Nicole White, the victim, testified that the SUV hit her and caused injuries to her spine and tailbone, as well as ligament damage to her right knee. Prosecutors claim White was the first person hit by Brooks.

Brooks had previously pleaded not guilty because of insanity, but his public defenders withdrew that plea in September. The hearing is set to resume Tuesday, October 19, 2022  morning at 9 a.m. CT.
