Schavaria died after an eight-year battle with prostate cancer, according to his obituary.

On October 1, one week after his death, a funeral service was held at Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home in New Jersey.

Schavaria is survived by his beloved wife, Martha Melendez, and their two children, Sky and Kayloni Burton, as well as his brother, Ernest Reeves, and numerous nieces and nephews.

His death drew attention when New Amsterdam honoured him with a moving title card. Schavaria Reeves worked as a sound mixer on New Amsterdam throughout season 4.

Throughout the 1990s, Schavaria worked tirelessly to establish himself in the industry. He has nearly 20 music video production credits from that decade alone, many of which he worked on with Jay-Z.

By the 2000s, Schavaria had shifted her focus to television. He worked in the sound department on The Affair, Quantico, Vinyl, Ray Donovan, and Law & Order: SVU, among other shows.
