Singer Rex Orange County has been charged with six counts of sexual assault against a woman.

The chart-topping singer-songwriter, real name Alexander O’Connor, from Surrey, appeared in court on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Southwark Crown Court in London.

He pleaded not guilty to the allegations of intentional sexual touching without consent, and his trial was set for January 3rd, 2023.

“Alex is shocked by the allegations, which he denies, and looks forward to clearing his name in court,” his lawyer said in a statement. “He is unable to comment further due to the ongoing proceedings.”

The 24-year-old allegedly assaulted a woman twice in London’s West End on June 1, 2022, and then four times the next day, including once in a taxi and three times at his home in Notting Hill. The woman is said to be over the age of 16.

He has released four albums, the latest being this year’s Who Cares? and also collaborated with artists including Randy Newman and Chance the Rapper.
