He informed fans via Twitter but did not share the same message on his Instagram or Facebook pages. He did not respond to the comment and then deleted it, even though it had over 250,000 likes.

Iker Casillas later tweeted: “Account has been hacked. Fortunately, everything is in order. Please accept my apologies to all of my followers. Of course, there are more apologies to the LGBT community.”

Casillas received thousands of messages of support in response to his tweet, and former Spain teammate Carles Puyol responded, “It’s time to tell our story, Iker,” with a heart and kiss emoji.
Casillas divorced ex-wife Sara Carbonero in March 2021, after five years of marriage, with reports in Spain claiming that the tweet was a joke in response to rumours about his post-divorce dating life.
