Sonny Bono was an American singer, actor turned politician who rose to prominence in following his collaborations with his second wife, Cher, as the singing duo Sonny & Cher.

Sonny Bono began his songwriting career at Specialty Records, where he came up with hit songs “Things You Do to Me”, and “Needles and Pins”.

Sonny Bono was the mayor of Palm Springs, California, from 1988 to 1992, and the Republican congressman for California’s 44th district, serving from 1995 until he died on a skiing trip in 1998.

Sonny Bono has been four times. He married his first wife, Donna Rankin on November 3, 1954. In 1964, Sonny married singer, actress and television personality Cher. The couple had one child, Chaz Bono who was born on March 4, 1969.
Following their divorce, Sonny Bono later married Susie Coelho and later Mary Whitaker.
Sonny Bono made guest appearances on several TV series and movies such as Fantasy Island, Charlie’s Angels, The Love Boat, The Six Million Dollar Man, CHiPs, Top of the Hill, Airplane II: The Sequel (1982), Troll (1986), and Hairspray (1988).
