Jerry Vainisi died on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, in Oak Park, Illinois at the age of 80, according to the Chicago Bears. His cause of death has not been disclosed.
Jerry Vainisi was the general manager and executive vice president the Chicago Bears when they won Super Bowl XX.
Before being named general manager, Jerry Vainisi worked as the Bears’ controller, treasurer, and in-house counsel.

After his time in Chicago, Vainisi worked for the Lions before helping to create and lead the World League of American Football’s football operations.
Following his retirement from football, Vainisi joined Hinshaw & Culbertson’s sports and entertainment law division in Chicago and purchased Forest Park Bank before becoming chairman and CEO.
