Loretta Lynn Parents: Meet Clara Marie Ramey Webb and Melvin Webb

Loretta Lynn was an American singer-songwriter. Loretta Lynn was born in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky.

She is the eldest daughter of  Clara Marie and Melvin Theodore Webb eldest. her father Ted worked as a coal miner as well as a subsistence farmer.

Lynn and her siblings are descended from Irish immigrants.  She was named after actress Loretta Young.

Loretta’s father died of black lung disease at the age of 52, just a few years after moving to Wabash, Indiana, with his wife and younger children.

Lynn received numerous awards and other accolades for her groundbreaking role in country music, including honours from both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music as a duet partner and an individual artist.

She was nominated for 18 GRAMMY Awards and won three.  Lynn is the most decorated female country recording artist and the only female ACM Artist of the Decade (the 1970s).

Lynn was the first woman to receive the Entertainer of the Year Award at the CMAs for her solo work in 1972.
