Maria Taylor played Volleyball and basketball. She was chosen to be in the USA Volleyball Junior National A2 team in 2004.

Taylor went to the University of Georgia on an athletic scholarship and played volleyball and basketball there from 2005 to 2009. She was on the All-SEC Volleyball team every year while she was in Georgia.

Maria Taylor later worked for ESPN and the SEC Network. She has covered football, college volleyball, National Basketball Association, National League and men’s and women’s college basketball.
In the 2021 NFL season, Taylor joined NBC’s Sunday Night Football pre-game show Football Night in America as a panellist.
In May 2022, it was announced that Taylor would replace Mike Tirico as the host of the program. Taylor served as the host for the men’s and women’s semi-finals and finals during NBC’s coverage of the 2022 French Open.
