What is Cher’s family heritage?

Cher is of Armenian heritage on her father’s side, and of English and German, with more distant Irish, Dutch and French, heritage on her mother’s side.

Her father deserted the family when Cher was young and her mother later married banker, Gilbert LaPierre.

Cher’s father, John Sarkisian was an Armenian-American truck driver with drug and gambling problems. He was rarely at home when she was an infant. He subsequently divorced Cher’s mother when he was just ten months old.

Her mother on the other hand is Georgina Holt. She is an American retired singer-songwriter, actress and model. She is the mother of singer and actress Cher. She was the subject of the 2013 Lifetime Documentary, Dear Mom, Love Cher, which was executive produced by her daughter, Cher.
