What happened between Sonny and Cher?

Cher filed for divorce in 1974, citing involuntary servitude as the reason for the split. The divorce proceeding was ugly as she accused Sonny of withholding her fair share of earnings and took her to court for custody of Chastity.

Sonny came to fame in partnership with his second wife, Cher as the popular duo Sonny & Cher.

Sonny was a major of Palm Springs, California, from 1988 to 1992, and the Republican congressman for California’s 44th district, elected dying the Republican Revolution and serving from 1995 until he died.

Cher and Sony had one child, Chaz Bono who was born on March 4, 1969.
