Cher Parents: Who are Cher’s Mother and Father?

Cher was born to John Sarkisian and Georgina Holt.

Cher is known for her distinctive contralto singing voice and for having worked in numerous areas of entertainment, as well as adopting a variety of styles and appearances throughout her six-decade-long career.

• John Sarkisian

John Sarkisian was an Armenian-American truck driver with drug and gambling problems. He was rarely at home when she was an infant. He subsequently divorced Cher’s mother when he was just ten months old.

• Georgina Holt

Georgina Holt is an American retired singer-songwriter, actress and model. She is the mother of singer and actress Cher. She was the subject of the 2013 Lifetime Documentary, Dear Mom, Love Cher, which was executive produced by her daughter, Cher.

In 2014, Holt and her grandson Chaz Bono appeared in episode 9 of the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race for a talk show-themed challenge.
