Emma’s parents, Michael and Sophia Chamberlain, did their best to provide for her, but they were not always successful. Forbes quoted Chamberlain as saying:

And my father is an artist, and he got sick and couldn’t paint for a while, so it was difficult for our family. And he’s doing fantastic now. But not having money at times was strange.”
