She is a Labour Party member who has served as Shadow Solicitor General for England and Wales since 2020.

Ellie Reeves joined the Labour Party when he was 15 years old, chaired the Oxford University Labour Club in 2001, and served as National Chair of Labour Students from 2002 to 2003.

She was first elected as a constituency party representative on Labour’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in 2006, with the backing of Progress and Labour First.
Ellie Reeves was re-appointed to the opposition front bench as Shadow Solicitor General for England and Wales on April 9, 2020.
Ellie was Labour’s political leader in the 2021 Old Bexley and Sidcup by-election, which saw the party’s vote share increase by 7.4% and a 10.2% swing from the Conservatives to Labour, but the Conservatives retained the seat with a 20.6% majority.
