“Italians have clearly indicated they want a center-right government led by Brothers of Italy. Italians have chosen us and we will not betray them, as we have never betrayed them,” she said to her cheering supporters and the people of Italy.

Italy has seen a total of 67 governments since World War II and is now about to be led by a woman for the first time in its history.
“Surely it would be a step forward. I defined it as breaking the ‘glass ceiling,’ one that still exists in many western countries, not only in Italy, preventing women from achieving important public roles in the society. It would be an honor for me to be the first to break this taboo in my country,” Giorgia Meloni added.
