Former No. 1 tennis player in the world, Björn Rune Borg is from Sweden. With six victories at the French Open and five in a row at Wimbledon, he became the first man in the Open Era to win 11 Grand Slam singles titles between 1974 and 1981.

Borg is 6-0 in French Open finals and has won four straight French Open championships. In the Open Era, Borg’s playing style was among the most unusual.

He used strong groundstrokes while playing from the baseline. He used both hands to bring his racket back, but his dominating right hand was what truly generated the force for his exceedingly unconventional backhand.

Borg’s name stands alone in a half dozen all-time best tennis records: He won 89.8 percent of his major matches; won three of his 11 major titles without losing a set (1976 Wimbledon, 1978 French, 1980 French),
