Born on August 9, 1968, in Melbourne, Victoria, Bana made his TV debut on the late night talk show, Tonight Live.
The show paved way for his appearance on the sketch comedy series, Full Frontal.
The same year, he gained more prominence with The Castle, a movie which became a financial success in Australia at the time.
Bana went on to star in several movies including the biographical crime film Chopper (2000), the war film Black Hawk Down (2001), Hulk (2003), Troy (2004), Munich (2005), Star Trek (2009), Lone Survivor (2013), Deliver Us from Evil (2014), Dirty John (2018), and Outback thriller The Dry (2020).
He also appeared in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017), The Forgiven (2017), and many other movies.
Bana has won several awards from the Australian Film Institute, and in 2019, he received an honorary conferment of Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his services to drama.
