Louise Fletcher was an American award-winning actress, best known for her excellent role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Fletcher’s portrayal of Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress, a BAFTA Award, and a Golden Globe Award.

Louise Fletcher was given an honorary degree from Gallaudet University in 1982. Some of Fletcher’s most memorable roles were the Bajoran religious leader Kai Winn Adami in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993–99), and Helen Rosemond in the movie Cruel Intentions (1999).

Louise Fletcher has made appearances in Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977), The Cheap Detective (1978), The Lady in Red (1979), The Magician of Lublin (1979), and Brainstorm (1983).
