Stu Allan, a British dance music DJ and producer who worked for Piccadilly Radio and Key 103 in Manchester in the 1980s and 1990s has died.

The DJ who was a huge part of the 1990s dance music scene, had been diagnosed with cancer for almost a year before his demise, which was announced on Thursday 22 September.
In a statement posted on social media, his family said they were “relieved he is finally at peace” and also said a memorial event will be organised.
The message read;
“It is with much sadness that we write this message to let you know that Stu has passed away today. As you know, he has been ill for a while now, and has been battling cancer for almost a year.
“While we’re so sad he is no longer with us, we are relieved he is finally at peace, after his illness. We will be holding a memorial event in Stu’s memory sometime soon, where we can all celebrate his amazing life. But for now Alison, Paul, Gary and Stu’s family need time to come to terms with their loss.”

He was suffering from a rare Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST).
GISTs are the most common mesenchymal neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract.
GISTs arise in the smooth muscle pacemaker interstitial cell of Cajal, or similar cells and are defined as tumors whose behavior is driven by mutations in the KIT gene (85%), PDGFRA gene (10%), or BRAF kinase (rare).
