Molly Russell Death: How Did Molly Russell Die?

In November 2017, Molly Russell, a teenage schoolgirl, committed suicide after viewing materials related to anxiety, depression and self-harm on the internet.

Molly, who hails from Harrow, North-West London, was only 14 at the time of her demise.

Molly’s mother, Mrs Russell had gone to check on her on the morning of her death, and found her lifeless on the floor.

“I knew then something wasn’t right.

“I saw a load of her clothes on the floor of her bedroom. For some reason I thought Molly had run away.

“As I looked in her room, I found her … I had no doubt it was her”, her mum narrated.

Her mother had called the paramedics who administered a CPR but to no avail.

The unfortunate incident spurred her family to spearhead a campaign for better internet safety.

Molly was a young girl who struggled with mental health issues.

Investigations were launched from all quarters to determine if the content she viewed online contributed to her death.

For Molly’s dad, who is at the forefront of the better internet safety campaign, Molly “must have endured” so much torment before her death.
