John Hamblin, an English-born Australian children’s television presenter and actor of stage and screen who appeared in theatre productions, soap operas and made-for-TV films had an estimated net worth of $2 million at time of death.

Hamblin passed away on Wednesday (Sept. 21, 2022) aged 87.
He was the host of Australian children’s programme Play School, a popular program for almost 30 years, and is remembered as one of the most iconic members of the show’s cast.

He began hosting the show in 1970, and appeared in more than 350 episodes during his run with the cast.

He retired from hosting the show in 1999 but returned once as a special guest as part of the show’s 50th Anniversary special in 2016.
He became affectionately known as “Naughty John” while hosting the show, for his cheeky sense of humour.
Hambling also had roles on Number 96, Class of ’74, The Young Doctors and Case for the Defence in the ’70s, and would go on to star on Sons and Daughters, All Saints and Love My Way.
Hamblin is survived by his children Emma and Myles.
