He holds the NHL ironman record with 989 games played, beginning on March 26, 2009, and ending on April 2, when he was a healthy scratch for the Philadelphia Flyers.

He broke Doug Jarvis’ previous record of 964 on Jan. 25 and will most likely be surpassed this season by the Vegas Golden Knights’ Phil Kessel (982). Yandle set the record despite a broken jaw and other injuries.

Yandle currently ranks 42nd and 31st all-time among defensemen with 619 points and 516 assists.
