His writings spanned across various genres including fantasy, science fiction, horror, mystery, and realistic fiction, earning him the title of the most celebrated 20th-century American writers.

He wrote a collection of short-stories The Martian Chronicles (1950) and The Illustrated Man (1951), Dandelion Wine (1957), Green Shadows, and White Whale (1992).

Many of his books have been transformed into film adaptations as well as comic books.

As a screenwriter, he wrote screenplays including Moby Dick and It Came from Outer Space.

The New York Times called Bradbury “the writer most responsible for bringing modern science fiction into the literary mainstream.”

Ray won countless number of awards including the inaugural J. Lloyd Eaton Lifetime Achievement Award in Science Fiction, presented by the UCR Libraries in 2008.

He passed away in Los Angeles, California, on June 5, 2012, after a brief illness.

He was aged 91.
