The state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II, the United Kingdom’s longest-reigning monarch, will take place Monday, September 19 at 11 am GMT in London’s ancient Westminster Abbey.

The service will be attended by approximately 500 foreign dignitaries, including President Biden and approximately 100 other heads of state.
Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan will attend. Dutch King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Crown Princess Beatrix, Belgian King Philippe, Norwegian King Harald V, and Monaco’s Prince Albert II will all be present.

Denmark’s Queen Margrethe will also attend. Spain’s King Felipe VI, as well as his father, former King Juan Carlos I, will be present. President Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron are also expected to attend.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil are also expected. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Charles Michel, President of the European Council, will also be present.
Presidents Sergio Mattarella of Italy, Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany, Isaac Herzog of Israel, and Yoon Suk-yeol of Korea will also attend the funeral. Ireland’s Prime Minister, Micheal Martin, will also be present.
Several leaders will come from the countries that still counted Elizabeth II as their monarch and from members of the 56-nation Commonwealth.
Who was uninvited to the Queen’s funeral?
Following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus are among a small group of countries barred from attending the queen’s funeral.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is barred from visiting the UK due to sanctions, had already stated that he would not attend.
