Eleanor Tomlinson, a Yorkshire artist, sketched a painting of the Queen and Paddington for the Platinum Jubilee.

She drew a picture of the Queen, Paddington, and one of her trusty corgis trailing a length of red, white, and blue bunting, as if they were walking away from the festivities, with a marmalade sandwich left on the ground in their wake, and it captured everyone’s feelings from the weekend.

That image has now become a common sight among tributes. “It’s one thing to see something online and see it being shared and the lovely comments, but to see it in that kind of setting, among a sea of flowers and tributes, it’s just something completely different,” Tomlinson told BBC Look North.

Paddington was not previously associated with the Queen, but that changed three months ago when Buckingham Palace proposed filming her acting opposite the Peruvian bear to promote her televised Jubilee concert.

“That was many people’s final image of the Queen – that’s what they remember, and so they associate her with Paddington.”  Ms Jankel told the BBC’s Colin Paterson.
