Willie Mitchell Son: Who Is Paxton Mitchell?

Paxton Mitchell is the first son of Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman Willie Mitchell and his wife Megan Mitchell.

Paxton was born on on May 4, 2017 and is 5 years as of 2022.

Paxton’s father Wille played Junior A in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) and Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) before joining the college ranks with the Clarkson Knights of ECAC Hockey in 1997.

In 1999, he won an ECAC championship with Clarkson, while also earning playoff MVP and ECAC First Team All-Star honours.

Willie was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, and he played two seasons with the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL) while earning limited playing time with the Devils over two seasons.

He also played for;

  • Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars (2001–06)
  • Vancouver Canucks (2006–2010)
  • Los Angeles Kings (2010–2014) and
  • Florida Panthers (2014–2016)

Aside his ability to defend, Mitchell is also known for his leadership qualities, serving as an alternate captain on the Canucks.

During his tenure with the Minnesota Wild, he was named captain for the months of December 2005 and January 2006 as part of the Wild’s rotating captaincy system.

Again, at the start of the 2014–15 season, Mitchell was also named the captain of the Florida Panthers.
