Janet Tamillow was the wife of Ramsey Lewis, a three-time Grammy award winner and acclaimed jazz musician of over 60 years.

Tamillow was his second wife and they got married in 1990, a year after his divorce from his first wife Geraldine Taylor.
Ramsey found his soulmate in Tamillow and as the Daily North Shore put it;
Every day, as late afternoon drifts into evening, Ramsey Lewis’s wife, Janet Tamillow, brings him a glass of wine. It’s the signal that his workday is over. It’s time for dinner.

Tamillow was obviously a very supportive wife. Sadly, Lewis, her beloved husband of 30 years died on Monday Sept. 12, 2022. He was 87 years.

Lewis died in his sleep at his Chicago home, according to his son, Bobby Lewis.
“He was just at peace,” Bobby Lewis told the Associated Press on Monday night.
“Most people say when they met dad that he was a class act. He was that way even through his last breath.”
During his career, illustrious career, Lewis performed with musical stars such as Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, Al Jarreau and Pat Metheney and had more than 80 albums to his credit — three dozen of them with Chicago-based Chess Records.
Lewis toured around the world and performed at the 1995 state dinner that then-President Bill Clinton hosted for President Fernando Henrique Cardoso of Brazil.
In addition to his son and wife, Lewis is survived by daughters Denise Jeffries and Dawn Allain; two other sons Kendall Kelly Lewis and Frayne Lewis; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
