Judy Harkness was the wife of Jerald B. Harkness (Jerry Karkness), an American professional basketball player who was born on May 7, 1940 and died August 24, 2021 aged 81.

Judy, just like her husband, was very active in the Civil Rights Movement.
Harkness played for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Indiana Pacers of the American Basketball Association (ABA).

He played college basketball for the Loyola Ramblers, after which he was drafted by the New York Knicks in the second round (10th pick overall) of the 1963 NBA draft, where he spent one season (1963–64).

He spent three seasons with the Twin Cities Sailors of the NABL and in his third (and final) NABL season, he was named All-League (2nd team).
The honor played a part in him securing an ABA contract with the Indiana Pacers, where he went on to play two seasons (1967–1969).
Harkness was awarded the Muhammad Ali Athlete Award in 2013.
Aside that, he is a member of the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame and the Loyola Athletics Hall of Fame.
