Don’t Worry Darling premiered on Monday, September 5th, at the Venice Film Festival 2022, and lead actor Harry Styles stole the show after kissing his co-star, Nick Kroll.

The kiss was far from the most dramatic moment of the film’s premiere, which came after allegations of backstage tension and a feud between director Olivia and the film’s lead, Florence Pugh.

Unfortunately, the film has been criticized by critics, with particular emphasis placed on Harry’s miscasting and the film’s emphasis on style over substance.

Brian Viner said: ‘The bigger problem is that Don’t Worry Darling just isn’t very good. Unhelpfully, it has echoes of much better films, such as the mid-1970s classics The Stepford Wives and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, and The Truman Show (1998).’

Florence’s performance, however, has been praised across the board, with Viner writing: ‘Pugh gives a fine, feisty performance as a housewife fighting social and psychological manipulation.’

Don’t Worry Darling is set in the 1950s and follows a housewife and her husband as they relocate to a utopian community for his new business.

As her life is turned upside down, she begins to worry that her husband and his company are hiding terrible secrets.
