In 2020, popular singer, Patti LaBelle who has now gone into cooking full time, sold over 35,000 sweet potato pieces every day during Thanksgiving. This equates selling 1,500 pies every hour.

According to Walmart spokesperson at that time, Patti LaBelle made over $1 million for selling pies alone in 2020.

“With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Patti Pies is expected to remain at the top of customer’s lists when shopping for their holiday meal,” Spokesperson of FOX Business also said.

Some people shared their review after eating arguably the most sought after pie during 2020 Thanksgiving. This was before a super-fan named James Wright reviewed one of LaBelle’s sweet potato pies back in 2015 on YouTube. The video went so viral that it raked in over 5 million views on the popular streaming platform.

James Wright, after his immerse contribution to the hype of the pie, has been invited by LaBelle over the years for Thanksgiving at her home. She also made a birthday tribute for him during one of his birthdays.
