J.R. Smith III is an American former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. Smith played high school basketball at New Jersey basketball powerhouse Saint Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark.

On July 1, 2020, Smith signed with the Los Angeles Lakers for the remainder of the 2019-20 season, reuniting him with former Cavaliers teammate LeBron James. On July 30, he made his debut for the Lakers, recording no points and one foul in a 103-101 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
