The song going viral led to Del Rey signing with Stranger Records and releasing the song as her debut single.

The song earned her a Q award for “Next Big Thing” in October 2011 and an Ivor Novello for “Best Contemporary Song” in 2012.

The following month, she signed a deal with Interscope Records and Polydor to release her second studio album Born to Die.

Born to Die sold 3.4 million copies in 2012, ranking it fifth among all albums.  Born to Die remained on the Billboard 200 chart well into 2012, peaking at number 76 after 36 weeks on the chart.

Lana Del Rey has won two Brit Awards, two MTV Europe Music Awards, and a Satellite Award, in addition to being nominated for six Grammy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.

At the Hitmakers Awards, Variety named her “one of the most influential singer-songwriters of the twenty-first century.”
