Who Is John Makdessi?

John Makdessi is a mixed martial artist who is currently participating in the Lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Born on May 3, 1985, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, John was raised by Lebanese parents.

He began his career in martial arts at age 6, by learning Tae Kwon Do.

At age 19, he learnt Shotokan and took part in kickboxing tournaments.

John Makdessi Career

In 2006 he participated in the USKBA, and took home a gold medal.

John continued in mixed martial arts and made his professional MMA debut in 2008.  Upon achieving a record of 7-0, he got signed by the UFC in 2010.

At the 2010 UFC, John recorded a dominant (30-27, 30–27, 30-26) over Pat Audinwood.

In the same year, he was matched against Ignacio Bahamondes at UFC on ABC 2. John eventually won the bout, following a split decision.

John has so far made 18 wins out of 24 matches in his career. He has a Black belt in Shotokan Karate and another black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

John has been scheduled to face Nasrat Haqparast, come September 3, 2022, at the UFC Fight Night 209.
