Mary Sattler Peltola is an American politician who served as a member of the Alaska House of Representatives from 1999 to 2009.
After representing the 39th district from 1999 to 2003, she represented the 38th district for the remainder of her tenure.
On August 31, 2022, Peltola was projected as the winner of the special election to complete U.S. Representative Don Young’s term.
She will be the first Alaska Native member of Congress, the first woman to represent Alaska in the House, and the first Democrat to represent Alaska in the House since 1973 when Young won a special election to succeed Nick Begich.
