Miller participated in football and track for the Purple Wave sports teams while a student at Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tennessee.
As a walk-on, Miller joined the football team at the University of Memphis. Due to an injury, he missed the entire 2013 season as well as 2014 one.
He participated in 12 games in 2015, starting four of them. He hauled in 47 passes for 694 yards, five scores (five receiving, two rushings), and two touchdowns.
