Dominic Thiem is an Austrian professional tennis player. Dominic Thiem was born on September 3, 1993, to Wolfgang and Karin Thiem in the town of Wiener Neustadt.

Dominic Thiem’s parents are tennis coaches and his brother Mortz Thiem is also a tennis player. In 1997, Dominic’s father Wolfgang Thiem moved to Vienna and joined Gunter Bresnik’s academy.

Thiem’s parents had to invest heavily for him to have a successful career. The costs were so high at one point that Wolfgang expressed sympathy for the parents of the new players.

After his 2019 Indian Wells title, Karin Thiem, Dominic Thiem’s mother started a tradition of getting a tattoo every time her son won a trophy.
Wolfgang Thiem is also part of his son’s team and has accompanied him to tournaments since the second half of the 2019 season, alongside Nicolas Massu.
Dominic Thiem is Austria’s second-highest ranked player in history, trailing only former world No. 1 Thomas Muster. Thiem has 17 ATP Tour singles titles, including a Grand Slam title at the 2020 US Open.
