Rudy’s father, Rudy Bourgarel, hails from Guadeloupe. He also played basketball when he was in college for the Marist Red Foxes, in America, during the 80s.
He played after turning pro in Paris and Saint-Quentin. There, he had met his wife, Corinne.
Ruby Bourgarel and Corinne divorced when Ruby was just three years old.

He plays the center position, and is considered one of the NBA’s best rim protectors.
Rudy began his basketball career in 2003 with JSC St-Quentin club. He later joined the Saint-Quentin BB club.
In 2007, Rudy played Cholet Basket’s cadet categories training center and went on to take part in the FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship.
The championship was the beginning of his wins, as he was named the team’s best scorer and rebounder title.
He later won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award on three occasions and an All-NBA Team member four times.
Rudy also won the All-Defensive First Team member six times, and NBA All-Star on three occasions.
