Anna Mani graduated from Imperial College London with a degree in meteorological instruments. In 1948, she returned to India and joined the Meteorological Department in Pune.

Anna Mani became Deputy Director General of IMD and held several key positions in the United Nations World Meteorological Organization after gaining a wealth of experience and knowledge.

She was awarded the INSA K. R. Ramanathan Medal in 1987 for her outstanding contributions to science.

Anna Mani was appointed as a Trustee of the Raman Research Institute in Bangalore after her retirement. She also established a company that produced solar and wind energy devices.
