Steve Grimmett, a British heavy metal vocalist, best known as the lead vocalist for the band Grim Reaper has died. He was born on 19 August 1959 and died on 15 August 2022, aged 62. Grimmett died four days to his 63rd birthday.

Steve’s passing was confirmed by his brother Mark Grimmett, who wrote on social media:
“I don’t really know where to start so I guess I will just come right out with it. It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that I have to tell you all as many of you know him my very talented brother Steve Grimmett very sadly passed away today, my heart goes out to Millie his wife my Mum and Dad, Russell , Sami and Ethan . I will miss you more than words will ever say , love you bro xx”.

Grimmett’s career began in the era of new wave of British heavy metal. He started out with the Medusa band but it was short-lived, afterwhich he became the lead vocalist for Grim Reaper.
Grim Reaper achieved major success worldwide with three highly acclaimed studio albums along with single releases and MTV airplay.
After Grim Reaper came a brief spell with Onslaught, with a debut single that charted in the UK.
The Steve Grimmett Band is a more recent project, with Grimmett backed by Ian Nash, Chaz Grimaldi and Pete Newdeck.
This band has continued to gig as Steve Grimmett’s Grim Reaper with a lineup now featuring Mark Rumble on drums.
