Born on November 12, 1970, in Portland, Oregon, Tonya has also retired from boxing.

She grew up with her mother, who helped build her interest in ice skating from a very tender age.

Tonya spent much of her early years training as a skater to the extent that she had to drop out of high school to spend more time practising.

Tonya went ahead to win many U.S. Figure Skating Championships between 1986 and 1989. She clinched the championship medal again in 1991 and 1994 U.S. champion.

Tonya has won at the Olympics on two occasions and has won the Skate America Championship twice.

She is the first American woman and the second woman in history to land a triple Axel in one competition.

As a professional boxer, Tonya appeared in competitions between 2003 and 2004.
