On January 6, 1994, Kerrigan was attacked by a hit man after practice at the Cobo Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The hitman, Shane Stant, had hit Nancy on the leg with a 21-inch collapsible baton.

The good thing about the story is that cameras were able to capture the immediate aftermath of the incident.

In the same year, Harding confesses to the crime and was charged with “conspiracy to hinder prosecution.”

What Happened With Tonya Harding?

Tonya was billed a $160,000 fine, stripped off her national championships title, and was ultimately banned from the USFSA forever.

Who Is Tonya Harding?

Tonya is a former figure skater and retired boxer, born on November 12, 1970, in Portland, Oregon.

She grew up with her mother, who helped build her interest in ice skating from a very tender age.

Tonya spent much of her early years training as a skater to the extent that she had to drop out of high school to spend more time practising.

Tonya went ahead to win many U.S. Figure Skating Championships between 1986 and 1989. She clinched the championship medal again in 1991 and 1994 U.S. champion.

Tonya has won at the Olympics on two occasions and has won the Skate America Championship twice.

She is the first American woman and the second woman in history to land a triple Axel in one competition.
