Is Christopher Hitchens Still Alive?

British-American author, Christopher, died in Houston, Texas, United States, on December 15, 2011, after a battle with cancer. He was aged 62.

Hitchens had written more than 30 books, with five essay collections, all centered around culture, politics, and literature.

He was regarded as a democratic socialist, and a Marxist, and belonged to several socialist organisations during his lifetime.

Hitchens was a strong critic of the American foreign policy, but backed the American government during military interventions such as the Kosovo War, the Afghanistan War, and the Iraq War.

Christopher Hitchens Early Life

Hitchens was schooled at the Mount House School, Tavistock, Devon, and the Leys School in Cambridge.

He later attended Balliol College, Oxford, where he graduated with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.

Hitchens was a part of the political left, and was passionate about the Vietnam War, nuclear weapons, racism and oligarchy,

He became motivated to begin a career in journalism after reading a piece by James Cameron.
