How did Anne Heche get an anoxic brain injury?

On Friday, August 5, Heche’s car crashed into a house in the Los Angeles westside neighbourhood of Mar Vista. The car caught fire after it collided with a house.

Fifty-nine firefighters fought the blaze that had engulfed both Heche’s car and the house for 65 minutes until she could be safely extracted from the wreckage.

Heche was reportedly able to communicate at the time of her rescue, but she quickly lost consciousness and never regained it.

According to her family, actress Anne Heche is on life support and is not expected to survive. She suffered an anoxic brain injury as a result of the accident.

Her condition was caused by a complete lack of oxygen after being trapped in a burning car for nearly 65 minutes.

A statement from her agent said Heche will be remembered for her “courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light”.

“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit,” it read.

“More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work  especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love.”
