Hordley was born on March 7, 1970, in Crumpsall, United Kingdom.
He is best known for appearing in the ITV soap opera, Emmerdale. The movie had earned him three nominations as Best Actor at the British Soap Award.

Hordley grew up in Oldham, Greater Manchester and was schooled at North Chadderton Comprehensive School.

He obtained his first degree in Theatre Arts from Manchester Metropolitan University School of Theatre.
Hordley went ahead to appear in Coronation Street, and later in the production of Mother Goose at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley.
He had participated in several stage plays, one of which was his portrayal as Napoleon in the George Orwell classic Animal Farm; and playing Mick in Harold Pinter’s play The Caretaker.
He later made a comeback to Emmerdale in 2009, and since then, has won many awards.
