Original Pingu Voice Carlo Bonomi Cause of Death

Carlo Bonomi, the original voice of Pingu, died on August 6, 2022, at the age of 85. Carlo Bonomi of Milan provided the voice of the South Pole emperor penguin from 1990 to 2000.

The cause of death for the voice actor has not yet been revealed, but tributes have poured in since his death on Saturday, August 6 2022.

One fan wrote on Twitter ‘That programme was cute and funny to me as a child, but considering we never understood a word being said, the empathy I would feel for those animated animals was remarkable, and I have this gentleman to thank,’

‘RIP Carlo Bonomi, thank you for your service in children’s entertainment and for giving my childhood some light in the dark,’ said another.

Pingu was last seen on television in 2006, but a Japanese spinoff, Pingu in the City, aired from 2017 to 2019.

The show began as a claymation project co-created by Otmar Gutmann and Erika Brueggemann, with a pilot screening at a 1987 film festival. Bonomi’s noises and lack of speech contributed to the character’s global popularity.
