Troyal Garth Brooks was born on February 7, 1962, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the United States of America. He was the youngest child of Troyal Raymond Brooks Jr., a draftsman and his wife Colleen McElroy Carroll, an Irish country singer.

Garth Brooks has five siblings: Betsy Smittle, Kelly Brooks, Mike Brooks, Jerry Smittle and Jim Smittle with four being his older half-siblings. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater on a track scholarship and graduated in 1984 with a degree in advertising.

Garth Brooks is the only artist in music history to have released nine albums that achieved diamond status in the United States. He is one of the world’s best-selling music artists and has sold over 170 million records.
