Sharda’s father, Nalin, currently a lecturer in Victoria University, where he teaches research in Multimedia and Internet Communications at the School of Computer Science and Mathematics.
He is an IT expert who has a wealth of experience in the industry.
He has also taught at Curtin and Murdoch Universities in Australia, and held positions at Florida Atlantic University, USA; Jaypee University of Information Technology, India; and Karlstad University, Sweden.

Sharda is an Indian-Australian actress and a classical Indian Bharatha Natyam dancer.
