Is Kirk Gibson in the MLB Hall of Fame?

Kirk Harold Gibson is a former professional baseball player and manager from the United States. He is currently a colour commentator and special assistant for the Detroit Tigers on Bally Sports Detroit.

The Tigers selected Gibson in the first round (12th overall) in 1978. He made his major league debut in 1979 and received MVP votes by 1981.

He won the NL MVP with the Dodgers in 1988 and the World Series that same year, thanks in part to one of baseball’s most famous home runs. it was Gibson’s second World Series title, having previously won with the Tigers in 1984.

Gibson hit.268/.352/.463 (123 OPS+) with 260 doubles, 255 homers, and 284 steals in his 17-year career.

He also managed the Arizona Diamondbacks for parts of five seasons, winning the National League West and NL Manager of the Year in 2011.

Gibson is not in the MLB hall of fame. However, He was nominated for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame multiple times before being elected in 2017.
