Geraint Howell Thomas, OBE was raised in Cardiff, United Kingdom. He attended Whitchurch High School and earned his first victory after he won the silver medal in the points race at the 2004 UEC European Track Championships. He currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Ineos Grenadiers, Wales and Great Britain.

Geraint Thomas made his Tour de France debut at the 2007 race as the youngest rider in the race. He again made history as the first Welsh rider to compete in the race since Colin Lewis in 1967. He became a member of British Cycling’s Olympic Academy.

Geraint Thomas was nominated for the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year award in 2007. He was voted the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year in December 2014. Thomas represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.

Geraint Thomas is a two-time Olympic gold medallist in 2008 and 2012. Following his victory in the first stage of the 2017 Tour de France, he became the first Welshman to wear the Tour’s yellow jersey. He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2009 New Year Honours.
