Johnson was just 16 when she dominated the 2008 Olympics, winning several awards. She is the 2008 Olympic balance beam gold medalist. Johnson is also the 2007 all-around World Champion, and a five time Pan American Games gold medalist, winning the team titles in 2007 and 2011.

Johnson was also one of two female athletes to appear on AOL’s 100 most searched females on the internet for 2009, ranked 27th.

On August 15, 2013, Johnson, along with her 2007 World team teammates, was inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame.

Johnson was also inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2019.
