Bill Furniss: Meet Rebecca Adlington Coach

Rebecca Adlington was coached by Michael Furniss. He is from Nottinghamshire and the main swimming coach for the British swimming team.

Michael began swimming coaching in the late 1970s. He became a full-time swimming coach in 1980 in Nottingham.

In December 1993, he was named as the head coach for the England team in the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Canada. Barbara Lancaster was the team manager.

In March 1995, he was named as head coach for the British team at the 1995 European Aquatics Championships in Austria, organised by Len.

Michael was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 2017 Birthday honours for services to swimming.
